Cancelled SOR4 Images Surface!!

Would have been interesting to see how this turned out. Character design looks okay, but my word that's a very gritty and drab city street, maybe too far that way, I'm not sure. But imagine how Round 2's dilapidated inner city - a much bleaker stage - would've had to look.

Pine Pot is the best thing about those images and very interesting to see it rendered that way, though the neon looks so soft and bright in contrast to the rest of the scene, it gives an almost dream-like quality.

Looks like a remake of SOR 1 to me rather than SOR 4, bit like what happened with 'Sega Ages' and Golden Axe. I would've loved to have seen this released though, that 'Pine Pot' brings a tear to your eye!

Yeah. Bollocks is this or was it ever going to be SoR4 - It's a 3D remake of the original. That's painfully obvious. Probably to cash in on GRIN's previous success with their NES Bionic Commando Remake.

I wasn't 'hyping it up' as anything other than a FOURTH Streets of Rage video game. 1, 2, 3, 4.

Doom 3 was a remake of the original but it was still numbered '3'.

The chances of the fourth SOR title being anything other than a reboot/remake is extremely unlikely. There will be no direct sequel to SOR3. So, in the same context, this is (or would have been) SOR4.

That is a rare occurence, and you know it. For the most part, remake != numbered sequel.

Bionic Commando Rearmed wasn't Bionic Commando 4, Turtles in Time re-shelled wasn't whatever ridiculous number it would be if you counted every TMNT game made between then and now, and all the Sega Ages games weren't given numbers at the end. By the publishers, or any fans who reference them.

And how about Sonic 4? What numbered edition is that according to your crazy moon logic? (Although I'm sure there's many, me included that don't even believe it deserves to be marketed as a direct sequel to the MD Originals, but that's a different argument)

Besides... Surely by your definition this would have been SOR 5, or have you forgotten Bare Knuckle Mobile?

Street Fighter 4 comes before SF3 and used mostly an SF2/Alpha cast, Sonic 4 rehashed older levels and so fourth. Not that far off to think this would've been considered SoR4 considering the title would help sell. Damn Chill out, you're acting as if he attacked you personally.

Anyway it's a shame to see this cancelled, at least if they went through with it, v5's situation would actually make sense would've been interesting at least but we got v5.

...Which technically would have made it Commando 2 way before Mercs even existed, unless you count Speed Rumbler which had Super Joe as the protagonist, too, and came out the year before.

That's why we don't unofficially number games. It gets very confusing, very quickly.

Forgot about BC arcade, I did play and beat that one too. Thanks for the BC/Commando history lesson. I'm gonna have to check out Speed Rumbler.

Also, back on-topic. I'm wondering if the cancellation of this will lead to the unbanning of v5 from the web, though I doubt a company like SEGA is one to go around rectifying mistakes.
