It got merged by a mod.

Anyway, you're dragging things in to nothing... you need to create a 'New FPG' first. >_>
Newbie mistake... I made it, too... but then I hit that New FPG button. =P

I have both the 2005 and the 2009 versions...which is better to use?

Okay, after doing a test run, it seems I still haven't gotten the hang of FPG Edit or SOR Maker. Maybe it has something to do with the version of FPG that I'm using? I don't know, but could someone please guide me?

I seriously need a step-by-step tutorial from an experienced stage-builder to get it right...please help, guys, and thanks again!

Do not double/triple post if you can edit your last post. Read the forum rules.

As for the fpg edit, open the program, you'll see it's divided by two windows: upper and lower. In the LOWER window there's a document icon, click and a new document will pop up. Set the location where your new fpg it's gonna be (and where all the images you want to mount are) and put a name (if you're starting with SORmaker then name it stage1a.fpg), in the lower part of the window it will ask the type of FPG, choose the 16-bit type FENIX.

If done correctly, you'll see in the upper window the images of the folder your fpg is now. Now you just need to click and grab the image to the lower window. Mind you, the first image you drag in will be renamed as 001 and it's gonna be your main scroller. That's the base of your stage, you cannot animate it by itself.

The other layers you might like to add has to be in multiples of 10, which means, layer 1 it's 10, layer 2 it's 20, etc etc. When you drag them to the fpg will be renamed according to the last number you dragged in, so RENAME it to the correct number of the layer you want by first selecting the imahe then in the icon of EDIT you can change the number. Now, if one of those layers needs animation, then put all the frames in a consecutive number, but no more than 10 frames per animation, let's say it's layer 10 the one needs animation so drag the first layerand name it 10, then the next layer name it 11, etc. at most you can have until frame 19, 20 will be the next layer.

Then, when everything's mounted, click in the save icon and it's done, ready to be edited in SORmaker.

Thanks, Don Vecta. I'll go through it step by step as soon as I get home (I'm at work at the moment).

Sorry for the multi-posting. I'll be more careful next time.

Incidentally, I've read online that the 2005 version of FPG Edit is better to use for this kind of editing in contrast to the 2009 version. Can anyone verify or disprove this? I have both, and I want to be certain which one is the superior one to use for the best results. Thanks.

Duly noted. Thanks again.

I'm currently trying to figure out how to include images in cut-scenes, but it doesn't seem to be working how I want it to.

Inside your mod folder, build a new script folder. Make an fpg named after the scene you want to put the cutscene before. Mount the image(s) you want and save. Oh yeah, in cutscene fpg's you can make fully animated cutscenes but require tons and tons of images. Check the mods At the Movies, v4, or Sonic to see examples of animated cutscenes.

That's the strange thing - I've built the script folder, I created the FPG with the desired image, but after I've saved the FPG, when I go to the folder where it's saved, I don't see the FPG at all, only the image itself and the text for the script.

And I don't plan to have animated cutscenes for my mod, since that'll be too much work and complications for me. Each image per cutscene will be one single still-image.

And why the fpg it's not there? Where did you save it?

Okay, foolproof method. Make the fpg in the desktop, mount the image, save. Then drag the fpg into the script folder. Will it disappear? If so then your script folder swallow files and has nothing to do with SORmaker.

Tried saving it to the desktop, and the FPG said it saved succesfully - but it doesn't show up on the desktop physically. I'm at my wits' end, now. T_T
