1st megaupload now byebye hotfile.com

Postby celestinx » Fri Jan 20, 2012 12:38 pm

Megaupload, one of the internet's largest file-sharing sites, has been shut down by officials in the US.

The site's founders have been charged with violating piracy laws.

Federal prosecutors have accused it of costing copyright holders more than $500m (£320m) in lost revenue. The firm says it was diligent in responding to complaints about pirated material

The US Justice Department said that Megaupload's two co-founders were arrested in Auckland, New Zealand along with two other employees of the business at the request of US officials. It added that three other defendants were still at large.

i guess we need to reupload some mods here..
this news doesnt change anything for me as megaupload is/was blocked where i live anyway

EDIT:

Hollywood is calling on the US courts to force Hotfile, the popular file-sharing site, offline following similar action against Megaupload.

Uploading stuff directly to B's server(s) would probably mean B would have to cash out for the bandwidth.
So sadly I don't think that's gonna happen...

Also, again I find the US government to be nothing but a monstrous pile of shit.
It needs to stick within its own borders and GTFO of the rest of the world...

Infinite bandwidth and infinite diskspace over at S O R Online. Contact me if you're interested in SORMAKER MOD direct HTML hosting. I'd be happy to do it in light of these events.

The US probably got tired of waiting 40 seconds...
The box said "Requires Windows 95 or better." I can't understand why it won't work on my Linux computer.

Last I checked the wait time was 10 seconds for non-users.

This is a real slap in the face to people who uploaded completely legal content onto the site, but of course the privileges of the fat cats at the recording industry trump those of ordinary citizens. Darn it, that's where I backed up all ofmy rare albums.

Even though i'm strongly against the removal of Megaupload alot of governments would have done the same thing. Businesses around the world have become more and more abusive and it's getting to the point where it's taking a massive toll on our freedom of speech.

PS:Try not to judge the US in a one dimentsional manner. Please don't be offended by this, America isn't the only countries with issues. Every country out there has lots of room for improvement.

I'm an ex-dual UK/US national... I've been, seen, done, and know enough of that side of the pond to be able to say that the US Government is especially bad.
Governments everywhere are bad... the US government just makes being bad in to a competetive sport.

Yeah I disowned my US nationality a few months ago.

I agree that one should never rely on his or her government, but although corperate censorship is becoming a massive problem including the currently defeated SOPA bill in the US which threatens to break the internet, massive amounts of countries that are worse exist. Not only in terms of censorship, but also other forms of abuse. Iran, North Korea, China, Saidi Arabia, Cuba, etc.

I'm not trying to offend you, but what I am trying to say is this. Fight for what you believe in(in this case against censorship), but adknowlage whats going on in the world today. America may have some problems, but my country is never alone.

As for Megaupload I hope that they in the future recover from this by finding a legal hole they can sqeeze through. I'd be sad for Mega Upload to say closed forever.

i read that this fuck sopa is a total internet destruction, just to make a fuck normal controlled tv of they, and a internet online shop. nothing more.

so the next step is ruin youtube, and even they want to destruct the search engines as google. meanwhile they do nothing about the banks who causes this crisis. they only moves for the money, no doubt.

our only hope is fight against them in a politycally way, and punish all those rats who try to ruin our liberty just for those big fat cats of the industry with millions of dollars...

and i hope that all people go from usa servers to anothers like venezuela or rusia, where usa not are exactly friends, and then there mount another megaupload or else thing related.

and about matt and s.o.r.n.e.t please, make a copy of your full website, because they can ruin all your things soon. because if share palces like megaupload not are secured, the next are else website with content. (of course that not happens if your server are outside the us).

we must wai to see what happens, and even if we are sad, we must trust in the net, because it gives all to us...

sory my limited english.

ps: about all couyntrys are a shit is truth. i feel shame that in spain they try to send to jail judge garzon, who fight againts the life crimes of franco, our fuck assasin dictator in spain. where are justice? the answer: in the people with the money :( :(
