I have a problem with my Cutscene Maker. If I click preview, it moves impossibly fast and ends in like a second. This shouldn't be happening as I'm making cutscenes that are nearly on the 25 mark for number of speaches and also are (supposed) to last about 3 seconds each.

Is anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it?

Also, how can I add a picture to it? Like a proper picture, not an avatar. I hope to make my own SoRMaker Mod soon but I kinda need these things to work lol

What do you write in the "showing time" field? 3?

You have to write the frames, so if you want 3 seconds you should write "180" (you will see the seconds in the right side). 1 second = 60 frames


About the picture... do you mean a background pic or one replacing the faces that you see to the left of the text?

If you want a background pic you will have to create a .fpg with the same name of the cutscene ("stage3g" for example). You won't see the background pic in Cutscene Maker even if is placed correctly, only in the game.

If you want to replace the faces... you can't, it's hardcoded in the game

The cutscene preview fails for me, too... it ignores the duration of every line... so I always have to preview in SoRMaker.

I can only test it in windows xp and windows xp x64 and it's ok there

It was no big deal since I can test in SoRMaker easily by keeping the scene open, but yeah... your program might not like 7 64-bit. =P

Looks like it's Windows 7 then (big surprise... not) so I'll just have to make them blind and test them in-game.

I was raging (emotionally) earlier as I've been trying to make my own mod and... well put it this way I now realize how hard it is. Or maybe I'm just stupid I've read tutorials but as always it's like reading a foreign language *sigh* me wish me had brain...

It's a shame that I don't have a PC with windows 7 for testing. I'm like this program, I don't like it

Just opened one of my Adam cutscenes... it still goes crazy fast, lol.

For some things there are workarounds but not for this one, there is only 1 command for the delays and if it's bugged in Windows 7...

Is there any way to add new portraits without having to do any hacking. I'm just curious, but I do know that I can't position a picture inside a blank portrait box.

The cutscene portrait idea wouldn't work anyway because there's a cut off point at about 210 pixels in SoR. The cut off happens around halfway through the portrait.

Is there any way around the cut off point issue?

With some larger images you can have the cutscene image almost all the way down the dialogue box. Experimenting with even bigger images may possibly find the size that touches the bottom of the dialogue/portrait space.

If not, then whatever the remaining distance is...
...use that distance to create a 'border' around the portrait, so that when it's positioned in the little box in the bottom left, it looks as natural as possible even with the line around it.

Also, touching up the custom portrait brightness would help, since dialogue boxes are transluscent black (shadowing your custom portrait).

Another issue that may be Win7 related...

Cutscene Maker keeps corrupting itself after a week or so and refuses to load... it's in task manager's processes but won't do anything. Hell, I can't even get the right-click menu to open up on it (attempting to right click Cutscene Maker's icon will actually lock windows up, forcing it to restart the explorer.exe process)...
I have to keep redownloading and replacing it.

Orly? It makes no sense, the .exe is always the same, it doesn't change

It has to be a windows' issue, maybe the access privileges? I don't know


Have you tried renaming it instead of downloading the app again? (if you can't rightclick, try File>change name)

Yeah it's got me boggled, too... but it keeps crashing windows every time starting from the first time it lags so something... not sure what but something out there in the world of Windows 7 (or maybe McAfee is screwing around with it?)... keeps corrupting the .exe over time.

For now, with my new (again) copy, I've set it to Read Only... hopefully it shouldn't go in to epic resource munching mode again.
