Delete - New Version Made

Postby CajNatalie » Thu Sep 29, 2011 3:04 pm

Please delete this - a new topic will be made for v2, since it's an entire rebuild of the whole thing scene-by-scene, and not just some simple update.

Should you have been directed here and don't know where to find v2...
Here's the New Release: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2742

I was about to recommend you that your foreground of Stage 1 should be on -240 at 1.2 scroll speed. I mean, the view of the street it's almost at the same level as the stage is so the scroll moving too fast doesn't look that good.

EDIT: And yes, Megaupshit it's full of bollocks.

Either mediafire or another one would be lot better, thanks in advance.

Okay, now i seriously have to marry you, Nat. <3

Downloading, later on I'll do a full feedback on it. Might save the resource material for scrapping parts, though.

Luv ya. <3

Ahaha... I have a habit of taking things literally at first until I consciously tell myself otherwise... so I'm just going to continue to let that go by as a joke, and nod my head and carry on... XD

Anyway... craaaaap... I forgot to replace the background in Stage 2's resource with the scaled version.
*reuploads*

The one that was up a moment ago is kind of... big...

Heh, please don't mind me, I'm a well-known flirt (and yes, I'm joking so no, don't freak out). :P

Well, on topic, mod's as awesome as it could be. I was refusing to play the demo cuz I was really looking forward to play it fully and enjoy the whole experience completed. It really took me back to my old, nubile days when I was virgin and incorruptible. Perfect mood, perfect music, perfect environment. You made good use of the new tools of SORmaker in recreating the original one and added bit of extra flavor on it.

Perhaps my only tiny tiny nitpicky complaint would be that some stages still look slightly pixelated or low quality (like some areas of Moon Beach) but I think that's mostly cuz the original stags were like this (I have a HD quality video of a super run in the OG SOR1 and yeah, the stages there are too pixelated originally. Obviously there's nothing else you could do about it since you've already improved the graphics the best you could without spoil the original source.

It's very interesting that the game, now with the vertical run, the SOR3 hit delay, the blitzes and all that paraphernalia that the new games brought, made the game be a walk in the park. Playing it in the hardest difficulty in the OG game was really hard since well... it was played old school. But regardless, it's still enjoyable as it is.

I also must give you credit for the very professional presentation of everything included, such as the alternative soundtrack, the resource material, the game ending in a video file (thanks a lot for the shout out, hon, i know you love me, lol <3) and all that stuff. I shows that you deliver something tidy and complete and that's what it matters most in a good mod.

Overall, I'm impressed, pleased and happy to see another quality mod. It seemed you had a quite amount of spare time to deliver it in such a short time but sure it was a well done delivery. Congrats, now I'll be sending the wedding rings to your place. :)

EDIT: Mod added to the index as well.

It's mostly down to the secret technique (lol) of speed ripping that I could do this so fast... but I recently did have some time on my hands as well.
Well deserved, too... I'd been jumping the Atlantic Ocean a few weeks ago. x.x

Rapidshare link is well appreciated, Bazzza. Thank you.

P.S. Speed Ripping?
Snag It (uncompressed) .avi + Gens GS (with VDP Layer Manager) -> Rip an entire level in under 1 hour
It's a bit of give and take for ripping animated layers, though... as well as ensuring you capture EVERY frame, there's also the potential for frame corruption in the .avi for scenery that moves by.
I had to clean up the odd frame of animation in the Stage 5 backdrop, for example - a few vertical lines had appeared in the sky next to a building. So it's only for people with a good eye.

Just finished it on mania and overall was great, I really enjoyed it

The music, the stages, all good (apart from maybe that pixel issue that Don talks about) The movie at the end is a really good idea that i'm sure others might think of doing in the future (and a big thank you for the credit, that's much appreciated :D ). I did however encounter a gamebreaker bug in stage 4: At the end of the first scene the second wave of enemies did not appear and it locked the game. Although i went back over it in test mode and it was fine. I've tried to find the problem for you but it seems to be one of those "1 in a thousand" things (usually the case when pits are involved :| ). Oh, and you don't need that camera lock at the end of that scene either - although that doesn't really matter i suppose. A few other niggles...

There seems to be a slight lift off the floor of the lamp posts and fire hydrants in the front layer of the first scene also. Not sure why cos the rips look good :?:

Two of the conveyer belts are off (or they look off...maybe they're supposed to be like that?. It's the two that are side-by-side)

The collision map has a few sticky spots on the stage 7 elevator...It's because of the 1 pixel greens that are aside the yellow.

All in all though Nat, I really enjoyed this mod, took me right back the old. Really well done! :)
The box said "Requires Windows 95 or better." I can't understand why it won't work on my Linux computer.

I can't figure out for the life of me why Stage 1's foreground won't go all the way down and just HAS to be one pixel up like that, either. =/

The Conveyors are like that because I didn't do anything to the stage rip (other than scaling the entire thing to 240 height... and splitting it). Conveyor sections are different sizes, but the SoRMaker's conveyor object is one size only. So all but two of them are 'too big'. Those two that are 'off' are actually like they're supposed to be (there's a small void on each side of a conveyor in the original... narrower, but it's a void all the same). XD

The sticky spots were there before I put the greens in on Stage 7. Otherwise I wouldn't've considered them worth trying. =P

Anyway, minor stuff aside, glad you enjoyed it.
Sorry the game derped on Stage 4, though. =x

The one pixel thing often happens. Open the layer in Paint or whatever, and cut the bottom by one pixel. This fixes it for me.
