I remember a few people who mentioned that they were going to try rebuilding the original standalone games with SoRMaker, but I've never heard anything about those ideas since.
In addition, there just don't seem to be any stage resources out there of the original levels (aside from a few exceptions to the rule, but it's like no more than a stage or two per game).

So one day, I decided that for my first SoRMaker project I was going to put together Stage 1 from the first game. With all the flashing signs it was a bit of a chore, but eh... it may have been worth it. :3

Update
Got Stage 2 done, and in response to Chan I recorded it with 16 bit music.
Spoiler: show

Update 2
After some headaches animating the midground, I finished Stage 3.
Spoiler: show

Update 3
I fixed the transparency issues above the Stage 1 shutters.
Scaled the Stage 2 background.
Last but not least, Stage 4 is done!
Spoiler: show

Update 4
Replaced Stage 3's Donovan with an Aggressive Galsia placed right on top of a pipe.
Added wave ambience to Stage 3; three waves then silence in a 30 second loop.
Fixed all Y Signals who were misnamed Turtle, because I forgot there was a green one. XD
And here's Stage 5... I may have to tone down my demo difficulty, lol... my solo Blaze skills could use some work. XD
Spoiler: show

Update 5 - Not yet in Downloads
Stages 6 & 7 done. Stage 7 is just crazy...

Update 6
After making sure I don't go in front of foregrounds, I've moved them back from z=-250 to z=-240.
Now they won't get in the Stage Clear screen anymore. XD
Stage 7's barrier has been split for a better look when throwing people off.
Stage 8 is done - you can pick yes or no (and 2 players can fight to the death before the survivor makes that decision if you can't agree), now I've just got to put together the ending... it'll be a separate .wmv you can choose to play after you beat it (or whenever you please).

By the way, I've lowered the position of the pipe in the choice scene since recording. So you won't accidentally pick yes instead of picking it up, lol.
Here's the yes option...
Spoiler: show

I've fixed the shadows to 'mirror left' in the yes scene since recording.

DOWNLOAD LINKS
Link to the Demo (Stages 1~5 fully playable): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SW68524Y
Note that if you go in to the mod's folder, you can pick your soundtrack!
Just copy the oggs of your choice from the three folders: V5, 16-Bit, and some Alternates I threw together from the Ultimate Soundtrack.
Default is 16 bit.

Link to Stages 1~5 Resources: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=VCZ9K25K
Contains all graphics for all 5 stages, properly scaled for SoR Remake.

Please give feedback if you spot something up with the resources or demo, since I've never uploaded SoRMaker stuff before.
And of course, please give feedback if you have positive reviews, too. ~.o

Note: I've done a quick job at scaling this for difficulty and 2 players, but not exactly like in the original.
What I can guarantee is that if you play 2 Player Mania you will encounter all the same enemies as you would in 2 Player Hardest in the original.
...1 player easy might be too easy, I dunno, lol.

Don asked me what was in the resource kit... so I took some screens of the folders...
...these screens have also been updated, lol.
Spoiler: show
Four foldiers (actually, 5 now; updated since screen)...
Image
Each folder contains all graphic resources needed to reproduce that stage in your own mods...
Image
All frames of animations are provided (for example, this is the 'Building 1' folder for the beginning of Stage 1)...
Image
Note that I've dropped some text files with suggested animation orders (look at the previous screen).

The bigger stuff I put in a folder called 'Done' while I was working on everything; I don't rename it, lol...
Image
Here's the Stage 2 folder...
Image
I've added Stage 3's folder...
Image
If you can't see the right side of the screenie, it's a file called 'How to use Midground and those damn billboards'
Very important if you want Moon Beach's midground, and will save you all the trouble I went through getting it right... or... it should... >_>

Stage 4's folder is nice and simple...
Image
Stage 5 took a long time to gather and process all resources for...

I'm looking for this too, but because of the Sormaker's limtations some Bare Knuckle 3 stages cannot be reproduced in sormaker, but maybe SOR 1 [ in that case will be necessary 2 round 8 stages because the Mr.X question cannot be reproduced ] and SOR 2 can be reproduced?

Sadly I have this OCD thing about how I do stuff like this... I'll probably not touch the third game until I've fully ported the first two to the Maker (despite being a hardcore SoR3 fan). o.o

Two foldiers...
Image
Copy of my SoRMaker's files from a folder I called SoR...
Image
Graphic resources...
Image
Example of the animations (stored in one of the 'Building' folders; this is Building 1)...
Image
The bigger stuff I put in a folder called 'Done' while I was working on everything; didn't rename it...
Image
I also didn't rename the scroll file. The name says which pieces I used to put it together.

Everything with an animation I took 26 screen shots of. Not as bad as it sounds... I recorded an .avi then played it back frame by frame saving each change in frame until I had a-z.
The filename ruqbmij8ik1112k.png means I pieced it together from...
1r, 2u, 31, 4b, 5m, 6i, 7j, 8, 9i, 10k, 11, 12, 13k.
8, 11, and 12 had no animations, so there was only one of each of them.

You mean like this?

XD

I'm gonna make 16 bit music the default now, but I'll also throw in the V5 and the alternates I was originally planning to use in their own folders so people can switch to what they want.

Because the SoR1 stages aren't tall enough, I ripped them with a filter active in 2x mode.
Then I scaled them down to 240 height (maintaining aspect ratio, of course). It's why they're not all pixelated but instead look smooth and such.

Anyway, Stage 3 done...

I've updated first post.

Beware Moon Beach has a lot of layers for a 1990's game.
They did some crazy things to make them work.
There were some tree trunks from the scroller in the sprite layer.
The mid-ground's tree trunks were in the scroller... the upper billboards were in the scroller.
The top half of the scroller moved at a different speed from the bottom half.
The background layer was actually the midground and backdrop, moving at different speeds.
The scroller has an animated segment at the bottom, and on top of this is the water.

Eventually I pieced it together so everything is together in its own layer instead of being split in funny ways like the original. The billboards are evil. You may know this if you've seen my post in another thread here on layer placement, lol.

Big question, Nat, is this a resource pack or are you doing the whole mod instead?
