I have with two SoR 2 style Shiva characters on the SoR 1 route with a little help with a couple of (dare I say it) cheats, of which I think were unlimited gauge and guns don't run out of ammo, but I did use up a few lives and just about managed to complete the game without using a continue after starting with 5 lives! :-)

It's not that hard to believe. I've managed to do it with Max and 5 lives, and Shiva is far better than Max if for no other reason than he owns every boss in the game for free. Max's damage rate is unmached, but Shiva's is up there and with his better jumpkick, faster jab, and better reach I can see this being done simply because Shiva has a much easier time doing damage without being hit. Also if you take the SOR2 route, and switch to SOR1 when you get to select a stage there are 6 1ups to be found.

I took roof/train route, then rudra/shiva route. I want to do it again and record, but today it's storming here and I can't concentrate on it :?

*sign* Did it last week, with SOR2 Blaze and a CPU controlled SOR2 Axel. Took the SOR3 path to end on the SOR2 island through the cave and labs. Lost only one continue at the SOR2 stage 8-2. My CPU partner didn't survive though. ^^'

Beaten full SOR1 path mania with SOR1 Blaze ( solo ), as you can see...And did stage 6 , 7 and 8 twice, for the extra points. ( As well as with Elle, but that doesnt concern this thread too much )

zero continues , zero cheats used. I dont like using them at all, never.

Well, I don't know whether I'm allowed to sign at all because I chose alot of options that made things easier:

- Straight SOR2 route without any detours (=easiest route IMO).
- SOR1 Blaze with computer aid by Shiva.
- Damage between players off.
- Five Lives
- 50 FPS !!!
- Weapons have unlimited ammo
- Weapons can be transferred to next stage

I still just barely made it on the last continue. Didn't get the Mania Ending, too, because of the weapons cheats (which really helped ALOT btw).

I got it with Sor2 route, used Sor2 Shiva and Max agressive CPU partner. The other two continues CPU chose Skate; I used one continute and used Sor2 Shiva again. Oh, and five lives of course.

Damage was off between players, so what helped tremendously was beating up enemies from both sides and protecting Max since many enemies strike him during his combo. Unlocked Ending 8 as well. This was my only playthrough w/ the CPU partner and I must say AI for the partner is soo much smarter and helpful than in V.4. A totally vast improvement.

So now I've unlocked all endings, characters, cheats and extras. I will try my hand at the events mode, suvival and boss rush modes (I really suck with survival/boss rush  ). But personally, I love playing through the main campaign; it is great fun!!! Cutscenes, awesome remixes, stage routes, upgraded stages and the character roster are what appeal to me the most. Will also have to try with some cheats, like light saber and exploding enemies.

Damn just reading the first page about people beating this on mania is insane as I can't even beat the game on Normal solo. If the game hit mechanics were setup to what it was like in SOR2 then I'll possibly have a little bit more of a better chance going through the game. For example what I mean by the hit mechanics is that in SOR2 with Axel using Bare Knuckle will always down the opponent no matter what unless they are blocking. Now in here if this is done the move will most often go through the opponent still does damage to them but they stay on their feet unless you properly time and position it right to do so.

I applaud all the people here who can do this easily on mania which is something I wont ever be able to do.

Couple advices:

1.-Readapt your skills, as if SORR were a new whole game.

2.-Never ever give up.

In SoR2 Mania is much more difficult than Normal. But in SorR it isn't.

I do feel a significant difference ... enemies' reflexes are greatly improved in V.hard and mania equally, in fact, mania means "very hard + some extra hp" for me.

zigzag patterns and "speedytrickster" enemies are present at any difficulty level, though

The only character I was able to beat Mania with is Shiva with no cheats. He's fast and strong ass hell, and not to mention his reach. It's like Yasha and Onihime dont exist whn you have Shiva. I went through every path except for the police car and guy with the chain path. I was hesitant on doing that because the game freezes with certain characters whn you get to Yamato's Temple. Dnt knw abt 1player going through THAT route yet. The rest of the characters...I either get owned or I have to use cheats.

By now I'm only playing on Mania. That doesn't mean I'm a very good player (I often have to "finish" the game through "stage select" after losing the last continue), but I just came to like all the frenzy. :D
