Since Ice hasn't posted it here yet, Adam's 7th palette is a reference to v4 Adam.

I've finally unlocked all the characters and found some nice surprises.

Spoiler: show
Elle's sword blitz looks like Captain Commando's desperation attack. And in that game, some blonde electric girls (!) had this attack too.

Rudra's neutral flying kick is identical to Hanna B's (Cadillacs & Dinosaurs). And her forward flying kick has the same stance as Mustapha's form the same game.
Her kunai blitz is a reference to Shinobi's multiple shuriken throw.
And I'm not sure about this one, but her sword blitz looks like Last Blade's "shoryukens".

Also, in the "entertainment street" route, when you're in front of the "Shinobi" (that's the kanji meaning) restaurant, there are some posters on the wall, with the word "ninja" and a picture that is similar to the original Shinobi cover.

Speaking of Elle...

Spoiler: show
Her Police substitute attack is clearly Geese Howard's Raising Storm from Fatal Fury.

Think the night sky on the SOR2 ship stage and also the boats you jump over in the jetski stage are taken from Shinobi 3 too?
Also pretty sure some of the new enemy death screams are from Story of Thor / Beyond Oasis.

IIRC, you fight Big Bear, who’s simply standing at the end of the boat (rather than breaking in as R.Bear does).

Found this out after going "FFS 2 Jets!??!" during a proper non cheat Mania run with a CPU and used a police call early on before a loss of life. It hit and took out a 3rd jet on it's way to the battle before the gunner jumped out! Talk about luck. I laughed a wee bit, loved the added realism.
Ha, interesting! I know it can KO enemies at the beginning of levels (i.e. SoR2 route Stage 1, or custom levels made with SoRMaker), but I’ll have to try to get this working now.

A comment on the Fighting In The Street / Pump Up The Jam chord similarities, following on from what was posted last month:

Duce u tight wrote:"The Streets Of Rage 1" stage takes from the song "Pump up the Jam" by Technotronic
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EcjWd-O4jI
great selection! Didn't see this mentioned yet~

Nice that somebody has mentioned it over here; I was happy with how close it sounded, but it's interesting that some are convinced the sound is taken from Technotronic directly! I shall explain:

In one comment I saw from a Youtuber, the Fighting In The Street was said to 'sample' the sound from Pump Up The Jam -- but what I actually did, was to recreate it by ear: using a similar softsynth string sound as a base, then playing it in the same chord style and tweaking it until it resembled that classic sound. If it fooled people into thinking it was lifted from an actual Technotronic track, then I guess it was a complete success!

The background noise of the train moving along the track is definitely taken from Final Fight :)
When you go to the upstairs area of the SOR2 bar-room stage and along the rooftops, are those buildings in the background taken from Star Light Zone in Sonic 1?

this may have been mentioned already but is the Restaurant music a tribute to the Revenge of Shinobi Chinatown Level?

Well, it is a remix of Beat Ambiance. I don't think the song is a tribute to Revenge of Shinobi's Chinatown.

I hesitate to call this an easter egg since it's pretty obvious, but some of the pick-ups are from Final Fight.

Just have a listen to Chinatown anyway hehe. The original Beat Ambiance is horrible, they seriously messed up the music in SOR3 and is one of the many reasons I hated it. When I first listened to it, I was initially like Chinatown!!! Tho it just may be me :(

Well in v4 they were exact rips from FF. In v5 they are edited, you will see some of them appear on plates now like in SoR. Bomberlink edited these.

After replaying the mania route, there was only 2 JetsThe fact you fight Jets so much (to the point you fight 3 at once atleast twice and I think 4 before Stage 7 bosses in the SOR2 route) made me think there was 3. Car still hit and killed the 2nd one anyway. This happened when doing Stage 2 boss fight of SOR2 route (the only time I think you can use a police car against Jet in a non custom map.

As I said, timing has to be perfect. If you do it as soon as the fight starts, the 2nd Jet won't have registred as being on the level so it won't hit (and the police call attack itself will miss), too late and the car misses (but still gets the damage for police call attack). The fact you can't see it until you use a police call doesn't help. It was blind luck that I managed to do it.

It's actually a remix of Beat Ambient but there's definitely some Chinatown vibe

When i made this remix i decided the best way to tackle the song was to start from scratch and create the something that used a few references to the original version but making it sound more like a proper song than the dreadful original which is quite possibly my least favourite from Sor3.

Once i got the track up and running i needed something to give the song a little kick so i used the Chinatown melody to give the song a hint of classic YK which worked quite well IMO.
Also the lead guitar when it first comes in was influenced by Virtua Fighter 2's Akira song, not sure if anyone noticed that one though.
