Well I just played through Mania for the first time....and WON!

I played through the entire SOR2 route since I am more familiar with it then everything else. The elevators in that route are a curse. :P I lost my first life on the baseball stadium elevator, my cpu partner lost its last life on the SOR2 elevator, and I lost my first continue on the last elevator.

It was pretty fun to play through this, especially with a aggressive cpu. I played as SOR2 Shiva all the way through the game and chose Max as my CPU partner before starting the game. Throughout the game, my CPU partner went like this: Max>Adam>Mr. X. I only had 4 lives left at the end when I finally defeated Mr. X.

The ending was interesting to say the least. I guessed it semi-right in the chat a long time ago when I was joking around about what kind of endings should be in the game though. :P

Yeah, beat the game by exploiting the exploit with Rudra's Shurikens and a little help from my CPU partner who chose Mr.X two times in a row after starting out as Ash. My CPU partner died during the encounter with Z. Kusano on the SOR 2 elevator in Round 8. I started on the SOR 2 route and broke off at stage 3. I went through the Dark Park Stage from there, then chose the BKIII warehouse and took a route from there.

Once in the SOR 2 jungle level, I decided to take the New Wave/Jungle Bridge route. Lost a few lives on the bridge but managed to spam with some shurikens. Yeah, so while I stayed on the SOR 2 route somewhat, I was very inconsistant about it. lol. (I almost never take the factory because the enemies in that stage are rape on most difficulties. Stupid Conveyer belts.)

I enjoyed the ending. Also, dunno if this has been mentioned or not, but the bad and inconclusive endings don't yield the Mania ending.
Edit: apparently, it had to do with Alt+X because I didn't feel like continuing to the next level right away.

Did you use the alt+x during gameplay?

Would that be a problem? For this is the only way I can beat Mania!

Elmo

Yeah I did alt+x throughout the game.

Did it again with Aggresive CPU. Me SOR2Axel>SOR2Axel>Ash with the CPU going Ash>Adam>Ash (cause he was still ash when I was trying to use my final continue, I let him drain a bar of Mr X on it's own so I could go Ash to finish him). Didn't Alt+X it this time, and got the ending.

What makes the first time annoying was that I alt+x the game then went right back into it, can't explain why I did it (it was like I went "I need a break, and thats the break over"). Got the ending now anyway so time to pick off the other endings.

Signing.

I beat it a week ago, Bleeding knife route then jetski stage to Sor2 boat and Sor2 ending. I was playing Ash, with my little sister playing Sor2 Shiva and abusing the "Sor3 pause delay cheat". Almost had game over against Mr. X. I was surprised the game is actually waaaaay easier on 2 players ; I can't even beat it on Hard solo (and my sister is not better than I am). Anyway... Ending 8 is awesome !

I beat it once last month and used save states and didn't get the mania ending. 2 days ago I finished it without saving and got the mania ending taking the SOR 2 route, myself as Shiva and the CPU as Ash. The CPU lost both continues during the game and then picked Roo twice.

Signed  Just marginally beat my last score from completing Mania ... would have been better as I left both kangaroos alive, but CPU grabbed hold of me for a pointless team-attack before I could go to pick up any of the bonus items!

Full SOR2 route as Max, with SOR2 Blaze as the CPU partner. Used one continue (CPU used two). Will see if I can do it alone next time :)

Really liked the ending - didn't get it last time, probably as the 'two players can use the same character' option was turned on. Two things annoying me though - can't remember what game that little spaceship thing is from, and I've definitely heard that music in some other game as well!
Put me out of my misery someone!

I beat it twice solo with SoR3 Blaze. Once on the SoR1 route and once on the SoR2 -> Rooftops-> SoR3 ending route (my favorite route, because of the music lineup... Up and Up is my SHIT).

I'm working on doing a run through the SoR3 -> SoR2 Alternate route
Spoiler: show
where you end up in the monster gallery area and I believe the lab to fight Dr. Dahm before going up the SoR2 elevator
.

I'm looking forward to watching gsaurus' 0 lives run if he records it as I'm actually pretty sloppy with Shiva compared to Blaze and can't play him that well in Mania. I don't think I'll be taking on that challenge for a long time .

True dat. However, I replaced “Up and Up” with the original (unused) Mega Drive version because I much prefer its piano riff (whose chords and instrument were changed in the remix, detrimentally in my opinion). More importantly, groovemaster303’s remix of “Crazy Train” is fantastic.

I'm looking forward to watching gsaurus' 0 lives run [on Mania with Shiva] if he records it
As am I! I’ll have to check out his other videos soon.

Nice to see the forum back in one piece! I beat mania in 10 days of play (CPU), pretty intense. Especially I couldn't afford to pass through the bloody subway, not to get the CPU butchered by the trains. The wrestler boss in the final elevator was sucking me a full continue too.
