Huge tip. Before you complain about the difficulty, ADJUST THE OPTIONS!!

First things first, if you want to run diagonally, turn off SoR3 exceptions in the Miscellaneous options menu.

If you feel like you're going to need it, give yourself 5 lives.

If you're going to play 2p or with the CPU, you should probably turn off Damage Between Players

Adjust the weapon type to your liking. I prefer SoR2, though if you're playing as Max, you may want to try something else.

Adjust the jump type to your liking. Both SoR1 and SoR3 work really well, SoR2 not so much.

If you plan on using run a lot, switch the camera to SoR3 in the options menu.

Also, to speed things up a bit, you may want to switch pause delay to SoR3 or Remake, I prefer the latter. Though this won't make too much of a difference if you play mainly as BKIII characters.

This is what helps me get through the game quite easily, along with the help of a CPU partner.

Some advices in how to beat properly cheap assholes like Abadede, Bear, SOR Souther or Jet (for him I need something quick cuz the flying kick trick it's slow as fuck)? I need tactics with SOR1 Blaze, SOR1 Axel and Adam mainly.

I can provide handy tips against some other moronic bosses, though.

Antonio. He got beefed up a lot from his SOR1 version so keep an eye on him. Careful when he launches his boomerangs, roll upwards or downwards to avoid them, run and either rush combo him or try to grab him, this second it's tricky cuz most of the time he'd welcome you with a kick. Try to grab him walking from above or below.

Bongo. Actually, the Bongos are quite easy for me. Stay in the middle of the screen, either at the top or bottom. Even if you are fighting both of them you still can pwn them badly. Let'im pass by with his fire puke and as soon he passes you by run behind him and give him a 3 B attack then grab them performing a rush grab combo holding forward. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT launch him if you grab him from behind! In case you accidentally do, vault and do the grab rush combo in front. After you knock him down, return to the mid screen, don't loiter next to him or he'll elbow drop your ass. Rinse and repeat, he's cake.

Souther SOR2. This freak might be annoying but as soon you knock him down he's cake too. When he shows up, if he jumps at you welcome him with a rush combo. Now, position yourself around 3 or 4 bodies away from him, he'll stand up and usually he'll do a Tornado Claw a-la MSH Wolverine, make him whiff it and punish with your Blitz attack, rise and repeat. In case you go too close, he'll grab you. If you go too far he'd jump at you which is not a problem since you can welcome him with a rush combo as soon he lands but careful with his spinning claw or his slide.

more to come soon.

For those fire breathing fatsoes I usually knock them down, then provoke them into that elbow drop, side roll it then either grap them from the behind or just combo them depending on the character.

Haha, you can deflect the bomberang by punching it.

I found with Abedede you can back off, then get close and use grand upper, interrupting his poking combo. Then just keep doing it over and over again. If you mess up, just hit special for the dragon wing to knock him down and try again. Of course, this only works with Axel, so good luck with everything else!

I need tips with R.Bear, Shiva, and Mr.X. I can get all the way up to the last level without burning a continue, but they demolish me. They are faster than me, have deceptively huge hitboxes on their attacks, all their attacks seem to beat out your attacks, magically dodge all your rushing specials as soon as they are activated, have the most bizarre walking patterns(even worse than Mania back in SoR2), and have the ability to just instantly dash towards you and do a combo that takes 3/5ths of your health and there's NOTHING you can do about it(seriously, you can't even roll away, they will home in on your roll).

Quite frankly, its bullshit, and the one thing holding this game back from being the ultimate expression of Streets of Rage.

abadede is quite vunerable to diagonal attacks. Generally if you run diagonally into him you'll be able to grab and get two hits in, a volt and a slam.

If he gets too far off screen then a running attack will save face there.

If he starts an attack then just A out of it.

Shiva is and always was a double hard bastard to beat. You just have to fight him as best you can as far as I'm aware.

I quite like that Mr X was hardened up a lot. In the previous games, he was far to easy for the end boss. The only useful tactic I know for beating him, is to take him out as fast as possible.

I don't think it'd be very fun if there was an easy way or dominate strategy to beat every other character so that you never loose. Apart from R.Bear, the other two, Shiva and Mr.X are supposed to be hard bosses. I don't see any problem with them being a bit cheap sometimes even if it does frustrate the hell out of us when we are sooo close to winning on a harder difficulty and we die on them :P

With Shiva from SOR2 i pretty much learnt his AI and could beat him without being hit in the end... just stay away from him, "A" when he slides across the floor to render yourself invincible momentarily, jump over him when he goes to jump attack you, then jump kick him from behind... doesn't work in the remake or SOR3 though so just have to fight him.

From what i've played, SoR3/BKIII Shiva is very vulnerable to jump kicks.

Really? he seemed very good at countering them to me. Being directly above or below him gives some time to recharge the ok meter so that you can go in for another rush attack. That's the only thing I worked out that worked well on him.

Are there any good ways to build up/grind store points? It kinda sucks that if I make it all the way to the end boss and die, I get ZERO points for an hour and a half of effort. Can you earn points in some of the other modes like survival or boss rush?

Mr X. While he got a lot hardened, he's still beatable. Try to jump with down B while he's rushing at you then do a rush combo or a grab. Keep a fair distance (not so far or he'll typewrite you) and he'll launch at your again, use again the dive attack and combo.

Stay in motion but remain in fair distance: don't let him rush combo you or grab you (break with A). If he uses the typewriter check your positioning: stay in between 0 degrees, 45 degrees and 90 degrees angle of it and you'll be safe (in fact, he can fuck up some mooks for you). He'd start laughing after that, so whoop his ass.

I find Abadede and Bear harder than X and Shiva, to be honest. Shiva is tough guy but I guess as long you are in the move, and time flying kicks and standard rush combos you'll be fine. You won't go clean, though, he might hit you sometimes. :P

abadede,
i think u can punch punch walk away punch punch, walk away each time is roar. slide should work, do not attack him too early if he does the rush punch as the active frame is quite long.

jet,
bait for dive kick, then grab him, too slow and he will grab you instead, this is a faster way to hit him. I think roo jump kick is good against him, i think roo have the air attacks to make up for his weakness, but he is meant to be weak overall.

Got a couple strategies for R.Bear and Abadede. I've tested them with Axel, Adam, and Shiva, to more or less a success.

R.Bear: Get on the other side of the screen from him, he'll approach and he'll do a jumping butt stomp. At the last moment you need to roll away, then immediately walk back and get a free combo/grab. Rinse and repeat until death. You need to wait until he's halfway there in mid-air before you roll, because it homes in on you. You can dash, walk, or jump away from it. Obviously this is a bit different with characters like Shiva who cover huge vertical space with their dodges.

Abadede: Very weak to vertical/diagonal approaches. In the elevator, I can walk up to him from above/beneath his current position, do a grab combo, and rinse and repeat for victory. You gotta time it right though; mistime it and he'll grab you or do a combo.

Still have no consistent tactics for Shiva/Mr.X. Their erratic, super fast walking patterns and high priority attacks throw strategy out the window. You basically pray for a miracle and hope you don't lose too many lives, as they magically rush half away across the screen with no warning and beat your invincibility start-up frames with a combo that does half damage.
