I'm wondering if the trick of up + jump, for the character drop on his feet, is going to work exactly as SOR2, SOR3, BK2, BK3?

In SOR1, if I remember correctly, the timing of this move was more difficult than just press up + jump anytime you like... it will be cool to get a little more challenge regarding throw damage...

I guess the timing is based on SOR2 for every character though I'd rather let Bomberlink clear that point himself.
Oh BTW, use the Edit button next time instead of double-posting ;)

actually all you had to do was hold up and mash the jump button on sor 1, so it wasn't even really necessary trying to time it right.

What if you accumulated, say, 1000 points getting to the last level on Mania, but then died, would youkeep the points?

From what I recall, aren't shop points going to be distributed via varying pick-ups throughout the level (along with other "achievements", possibly), and totally independent of score or anything like that?

I find it highly unlikely that your shop points tally for a single game is rendered void if you don't see it through to completion.

* Points are based on collecting certain items during the game.
* There bonus and penalties based on some factors, such as using the stage selector.

Yes, you are correct. We can see from this screenshot that store points are based on item pickups to accumulate cash and seem to be independent of points.

As for store points being rendered obsolete if you do not complete the game, I have no answer until we play the game.

I sure hope so lol.

Logically, it should work by immediately keeping/saving the points as you attain them in the game. So basically even if you lose or quit the game by yourself it should keep/save the points. Unless of course if the game crashes out or is shut down 'unofficially' (i.e. End Process in Task Manager). It all depends on how it saves.

I've pretty much forgotten most of the stuff I've read through the development/updates blog though, so the information could be there.

If not, then apart from Bomberlink, I don't think anyone else knows for sure at this stage. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

I think just bomberlink knows that, at this point.
Whatever the systematic of points, i think it will be great though...

Perhaps it would save your points on things like Mania, but not on easy?

Speaking of points,there's this idea I had a while back:

Hmm, almost like that yes, if I understood correctly, all the money bags and coins you colect while playing in game can be used to buy stuff in the Shop mode.

The flipside,I guess,being the risk of dying and having your score counter reset to zero,wiping out all the points you've accumulated. Is that right,or am I making shit up?

If it is like I described,though,you can really go to town with that. High risk,high reward and all that.
Now,I know that we're way beyond "HAI B INCLUDE THIS SHIT IN V5 PLZ HURR",but hear me out. It'd be like the NES Duck Tales games. :) You need to collect all the treasures and shit to get enough money to get the good ending,but if you die,you lose everything you've collected in the level so far. Duck Tales 2 has a shop between the levels,where,in addition to extra lives and shit,you can buy a safe,which prevents you from losing all your money when you die.

So,applying that to SORR,we can get a system where after finishing a level,you get the option of dumping all the points you collected into your Shop Credits and saving them. This,however,resets you point counter,so you start the next stage with 0 points. That's if you really want to play it safe (i.e. like a total pussy). The other option is to keep playing. Your points carry over into the next stage,but if you lose all your lives and end up having to use a continue in that stage,your points reset,and you lose EVERYTHING you've collected thus far. On the flipside,if you choose to continue,let's say the enemies in the next level give X1.5 the points they usually give you,so that's your motivation right there. But again,keep in mind that if you use a continue,you lose everything. I like games that exploit the player's greed like that. :)

Well, I have a small idea about the scoring system (not the Shop mode), I don't know if it's still applicable, already implemented or there's already one working, but displaying it:

If the score count in SORRv4 has added one more algarism to make possible a score superior to one million points, I'd suggest the stage clear screens to have 4 point bonus:
- CLEAR BONUS: the normal bonus for completing the stage;
- LEVEL (DIFFICULTY) BONUS: bonus depending on the difficulty level played;
- TIME BONUS: the amount of timer left, disabled timer means no bonus;
- LFE BONUS (implemented in BK3): the amount of life remaining in your lifebar once the stage is completed.

I'm no way intended to overlap something that's already done to the project, but nonetheless it's only a small suggestion of my part! I truly hope this is someway useful! :)
