I've used back attacks with mixed results. they are really good for enemies that tend to struggle out of combos(Abadede is the most heinous of these offenders), since they auto knockdown whomever gets hit. the standard jump kick I don't use that often, but it IS useful for awesome moments when taking down the ninjas and Zamzas. the back attack has also saved my ass more than once from taking damage when being flanked, so experiment.

I used back attacks more in the original series. I don't seem to get in situations where I need the back attack in SORR. Not sure if it's me or the game.

Do vertical kicks do more damage? I usually use them believing that. Also, it works well against Donovans. When you perform the vertical kick they will try to uppercut you but it usually doesn't reach so they get kicked in the face.

you can do roo's infinite by using his back attack, just hit them with the tip of his tail and walk forwards to counteract the distance you move. i took out half of mr.X's life (plus goons) who all got stuck in the infinite until i messed the timing up.

If you time it right, you can infinate with just about every character with their blitzes (exept for Abadede). It's a cheap way I used to complete mania mode

You mean rushes (jab, jab, stop, jab, jab....)?

Pretty much [jab, jab, jab, stop][possibly grab the person and abuse a throw move's invincibility frames to clear/gather oncoming enemy(s) then dair when they get up, and repeat]

I learned the hard way on how this can be useful, especially if you can't run and roll out of an ambush. :)

Max's back attack was quite useful in SOR2 not sure if its as useful in SORR v5 or not due the enemies being much faster but it was probably Max's most underrated move. It deals about as much as one of Max's throws from what I understand.

Back attacks are not quite useful in SoR1 and SoR3 IMO, but they are useful in SoR2, the reason is:
1. You might need knocking down enemies with a fast move.
2. Turn back + punch is OK but you probably can't press those in time and Max hits enemies too late.
3. You can't press back, back, B to perform a blitz (you need back, back, back B).

For me, back attacks are only used in those very rare situations when someone manages to sneak behind me, leaving no time for any other attack and specials aren't beneficial to use for some reason (Bar is still filling up etc). In those moments back attack saves me from getting hit.

So yes, I think they are useful. But only rarely.

Blaze1's back kick is a very useful alternative to the backflip if you've got Donovans around.
Blaze2's sweeper hits in front of her.
Blaze3's uses an incorrect damage value ( ) but she still ducks.

Any Blaze's neutral air kick does high damage, and I make use of each one.

Blaze has the most well-rounded moveset... so of course her back-attacks and jump kicks will be more useful.

To the best of my recollection, I have NEVER used the back-attack, not even if I'm surrounded. That's what the special-move button is for. ^^ plus I try to hit my enemies hard and fast and move quickly from one to the next...I do my best never to let any enemy stand too long behind me or else they'll get in a hit.

Max's back attack it's pretty good, it hits from the first frame, hits twice and does great damage. If you're doing a rush combo (without metter or not risking in doing a tackle that would make you compromise your position but you still need to deal heavy damage) and the enemies are fairly close do B B B then back + back attack, the two hits actually perform more damage than the hammer punch AND there's no delay since it hits from the first frame so it's a good rush combo ender if everyone's close to you.

Also confirm me this Max players, but so far nobody has blocked me a back attack. Is it unblockable?

Well I've never had it blocked. Or at least i don't ever remember and I've been a Max player for quite a few month now.

The back attack for me is more of an amusing attack; If you can land it at the right time on an annoying following enemy while having a 2 player, you could be unable to stop laughing for quite a while. I know, because i couldn't
