Point there.

From what I gather he's still too powerful on SORR, I really can't say so myself cuz I've been busy mastering Rudra (or trying X, which was a disappointment, to be honest). I guess I'll do a run with him tonight and see what's up.

So far, Max got me my highest mania score. Honestly he's one of the quicker ways to beat the game.

Trying Max right now. Only use "hard" difficulty level and a CPU partner with far reach (Elle). To see whether this is suizide or not, I chose SOR2 route -> roof/crazy train.

Just finished the first two levels and Alt-Xed out. This is what I found so far:

1) His damage output is phenomenal in every way.
2) He's also great with a pipe.
3) I was surprised how well I fared against the jets on the roof. The jump kick is rather adequate.
3) But he is sooo slow.
4) I also managed to jump into gaps between houses and trains several times ... he is obviously barely able to jump far enough.

Let's see how this develops ...

That video is pretty damn impressive. I dunno, maybe it's my settings or something. So damn many settings in this game to change practically everything, maybe mine just aren't ideal for Max. I just can't seem to grab anyone, they do that bullshit where they just randomly speed up and run around you to avoid you" stuff. Maybe I will try it again.

edit: Okay, whoa, I borrowed some of the techniques I saw in that video. While I am not nearly as good at landing the back grab as he is, I can at least get some front grabs going. So I can't do the atomic drops, but I can do the jumping slams. Much better now, lol...

FUCK ME! Max is fucking AWESOME! Just now gave a try to my first Mania run with him and I was able to beat the game with it! (of course with partner) but damn he's strong!

Definitely the key to use him properly is to exploit his Blitz 1 and 2, especially blitz 2 that breaks blocking enemies guards and grab them. Also he nullifies fatass property (he can launch or throw any Bongo or SO3 Bennies like if they were made of cotton). Not to mention his damage input it's insane.

I guess I'll write a guide dedicated to him if I keep playing more. This was love at first sight, that's for sure.

Yeah, his two star blitz is lots of fun. :D I just finished round 4 (construction site) and again had no problems with the jets on top. Max still will never be a favorite of mine because he simply is too slow for my taste.

For me, Max is the best non-broken character in the game (broken: Rudra). His slide is loaded with invincibility frames, meaning he can slide through a lot of bullshit attacks like Shiva's flame kick and go for the atomic drop afterwards.

That video (and the subsequent borrowing from it) made a believer out of me, for sure.

Say guys, have you even begun to realize yet how insanely funny it is to play as Ash?

Anyway, whoever animated his missing moves is a genius for sure. 8)

Rudra is really speedy, but the player selecting screen shows she has only 3 stars for her speed and jump. I was shocked after I bought her from the shop, but I find she is a decent char later, I would rather think that is a mistake.

She has at least 5 stars of speed... technically speaking.

Well, in the original games as well as remake apparently, the status stars don't actually reflect the characters' true stats. They're just for show mainly. Red Crimson told me this. His experience hacking the SOR 3/BKIII and SOR 2 ROMS is part of the reason he knows this.

This is why Blaze appears faster than Axel in SOR 2 even though they have the same speed rating. In reality, she actually is. Her stats just don't reflect it.

Hope that explains it for you. ;)

Might be a dumb question, but if that is the case, why wasn't it corrected in the remake?

I have no idea. Probably because they wanted to follow the same principles as the designers most likely. I dunno. Ask them. =P
