Things from the original games which are missing in SORR V5

Postby Elmo » Sat Apr 09, 2011 5:41 pm

Maybe it would be interesting to list all the stuff from the original SOR/BK-series which didn't make it into SOR V5.

I found these things so far:

- Enemies don't grab food.
- Bongos don't carry and throw Galsias in later stages.
- Goldie seems not to have the defensive kick (which he only used when you ran at him in BK3).
- The cat in the garbage bin is missing.
- Break
- The bearded guy with the bazooka from the GG version.

Anything else?

SOR3 Stage 7-5A aka. Neo X.'s lair (going by the secret level select menu), isn't in as well.

I kinda missed this. Then again, it would increase the frustration of those moments when you have one pixel of health and can’t reach the item! Edit: I saw the post below; if that’s the case, I guess those actions only occur on higher difficulties (I got frustrated with Normal and went down to Easy to earn points for the shop ).
- The cat in the garbage bin is missing.
Are you talking about a bin in the background, or a breakable one? I didn’t notice either way, but in one of the street levels (can’t recall which one) you can smash a bin and a cat comes out and runs away.

They do, especially Donovan.

- Bongos don't carry and throw Galsias in later stages.

Haven't seen this yet.

I'm pretty sure he does, unless I'm mistaken,

- The cat in the garbage bin is missing.

It's there, slam or throw an enemy.

- Break

No big loss.

- The bearded guy with the bazooka from the GG version.

He does have a cameo ;)

It's in the game, just not in story mode. Try the events mode.

Ahh figured it would.

I haven't unlocked events mode yet myself.

Only one thing that sounds trivial to other but extremely serious to me.

The original Back Ground Music.

I'm in the process of creating it.

Oh but they do, trust me, they fucking do! This is specially annoying in Mania! I was like 10% of health and there was a chicken and a Galsia trolled me eating it. It was like if he said "Problem? You mad?" with a smiling face. :(

I kind of wish enemies picking up your food wasn't in this game. It's one of the things I hated about SOR3 because it means you pretty much can't save anything, you have to use it immediately even if you don't really need it. All the low-level enemies do it to my knowledge (Galsias, Donovans, bikers, Vices, Goldies, etc.; not sure about Signals, I can't recall ever catching them do it), and on Mania they can do it instantly (i.e no waiting around). Takes away strategy from the game and feels like a cheap move if you ask me.

Police special behavior for SOR 1 bosses is different. In SOR 1, all bosses walked in place except Onihime and Yasha, which stood unmoving for the police specials and Mr.X whose behavior is unknown.

In SORR, all enemies, regardless of status do the weird dance. This should be fixed as some of the bosses walking in place fit attack the Barbarian quite well. As a matter of fact, whenever I hear Attack the Barbarian, the first thing that pops into my head, is SOR 1 Souther walking in place during the police call.

Slum/Goldie 100% DOES have the kick, set the diff to hard/very hard/mania and run at him. Seriously, try it.

Also Bongo DOEs throw Galsia, a good spot for this is the chinese restaurant/docks.
