Questions & How-To's

Postby Aggort » Mon Apr 04, 2011 10:26 pm

If you are looking for an answer to a question you can't seem to answer yourself or you want to be able to achieve something that you haven't quite figured out how to then you're in the right topic! Post questions relating to Streets of Rage Remake's gameplay, not related to the project, here and get answers. Let's keep everyone informed and answer any questions posed so we can all get the most out of the game!

I will state a rule for this topic and I will ask you guys to follow it carefully please!

If you're going to talk about certain details in the game that could be spoiling surprises for others (like events happening in the game), please use the spoiler tag. Thank you! ;)

I have a question myself

I for one want to ask where this Prototype mod I keep reading about is? Is this going to be an eventual release, or am I just an idiot? (ANSWERED: I'm an idiot! It's located in the SOR Maker Forums)

Re: 'Series' button, and Axel's hurricane kick?

Postby sebadude » Mon Apr 04, 2011 10:35 pm

Long-time follower of this project but felt I had to register to congratulate you guys on completing what will surely go down in gaming history as the fan project of the decade! :)

Just two quick questions - I couldn't find the answers anywhere else so thought I'd ask here..

1. What is the 'series' button mentioned in the control settings - is that like a programmable button where you can input your own combos for later use? Do you have to buy this functionality in the shop after completing the game?

2. Has Axel's hurricane kick-style special move been removed? I tried fwd-fwd-B (or whatever it was, possibly A!) a couple of times and it doesn't seem to be there any more.

Anyway I hope someone can answer my questions... and congratulations again on an incredible, incredible game. :)

Questions & How-To's

Streets of Rage 2 Axel has it, it's run + special.

You need to unlock the Streets of Rage 2 and 1 characters in the shop.

Oh, the series button: you can unlock the SOR 1 and SOR 2 of certain characters. The switch button switches between them on the character select screen.

No, the police button switches the versions.
Series button acts as a special move button, so if you're playing as Axel, you hold down the series button and move your joypad in a Hadouken like motion. Axel will do one of his special moves afterwards. It's like using the star moves only harder to pull off.

POSSIBLE SPOILER?

Ok I know I saw her briefly in version 4. Now that she's playable and a boss (and I've already fallen in love with her move set). Exactly who is Rudra? I fancy myself a SOR nut but I can honestly say I do not remember ever seeing her in anything.

Oh right. I thought that move was just because you held in the nirmal attack move and pressing series was a faster way no?

Spoiler: show
You can probably find out when you unlock the character profile option in the shop. She is NOT Shiva's sister I will tell you that.

As suggested in the other thread, I'm gonna post how to get the endings here, spoilered, of course.

If the blog is right, and there are 8 endings, I've only figured out how to get 5 of them, and will post it here.

In order to get each ending, a certain path must be taken, and it's easier to get to some paths based upon where you start. At certain points in the game, another "scene select" screen will show up, and (as far as I can tell), the route you take here greatly impacts the ending you get. I'm not going to tell you each specific path to take, since a lot of them meet back up, but I will point out the specific ones you need to get each ending. I'll try to highlight the optimal path for you to take, however.

Ending 2:
Spoiler: show
See ending 5/6, but during the fight with Shiva, simply let time run out

Ending 3:
Spoiler: show
Start off by choosing the default choice in the Route Map, this should take you to the start of the SOR2 levels. Go through here until you get to the bar, and continue on out the back to fight Barbon. Follow the levels until the amusement park, which will give you a new choice, where you want to get to Vehelits. To get to Vehelits, take the right path in stage 3 at the beginning, as opposed to the upper path. After beating it, take the right path, as opposed to the upper path, to fight Zamza. After you've beaten Zamza, you'll go to the Baseball Stadium part of Stage 4, beat this as normal. Choose the right level (SOR2 boat) to proceed When you've beaten the SOR2 boat, you'll land at a beach/jungle. Continue onwards, choosing the right path when appropriate, as opposed to the upper path. Follow the levels all the way through to get to the hallway from SOR2. You'll know you're in the right place if the hallway goes from left to right, as opposed to right to left, and you'll be fighting robots along the way. Ride the elevator at the end, beat some goons, Shiva, and then beat Mr. X, and you're done.

Ending 4:
Spoiler: show

Go through here until you get to the bar, and continue on out the back to fight Barbon. Follow the levels until the amusement park, which will give you a new choice, where you want to get to Vehelits. After you've beaten Zamza, you'll go to the Baseball Stadium part of Stage 4, beat this as normal. When you've beaten the SOR1 boat, you'll land at a factory. Follow the levels all the way through to get to the hallway from the end of SOR1. You'll know you're in the right place if the hallway goes from right to left, as opposed to left to right. When asked, choose "No," beat Mr. X, and you're done.

Ending 5:
Spoiler: show
Take the same path as outlined above, and when you get to the amusement park, choose to go up instead of to the right. When you have the choice, choose the left level, the construction site. After beating it, you'll end up on a helicopter, a jet-ski stage, and eventually, you should be in the SOR3 version of the last few levels, with the ninja-forest, followed by a motorcycle ride through the wasteland. Beat the estate grounds level, and you'll eventually be in a place where you ride the elevator up to fight Robo X. You'll know you're in the right place if Mr. X is in his throne, but Shiva isn't there. Beat him, and a 3-minute timer will start, and you'll be taken to the elevator area where you had to rescue the general/mayor from BK3/SOR3. During this time, you have to find a control room, and destroy the control panel inside. I think the locations of the control room/keycard are randomized, but just keep looking. This should stop the timer. Afterwards, locate the keycard in the room with all the crates, and take the elevator down to the 1st floor, during which you'll fight Shiva. Beat him, and you're done.

Ending 6:
Spoiler: show
The same as above, but instead of defusing the bomb in the control room, simply get the key card, and beat Shiva within the time-limit.

I hope this was clear enough for everyone, and I'm still trying to figure out how to get other endings, and I'll be sure to edit this post when I know how to get the last 3.

Spoiler: show
I tried joining Mr. X at the SOR1 route, but when I beat him, ending 4 triggered...don't know if this was because I was playing as Shiva or not, but I'll look into if there's an "evil" ending to get.

But other than that, I'll keep looking and trying out different things, but from what I've found, the version of the final level that you fight on determines the ending you get, no matter which route you took to get to said level. Unless anyone has any other insight on how to get the last three endings, that's all I've got to say for now. Good luck, everyone.

By downloading the mediafire versions, you need both, then when you open it, it becomes one and functions normally, right?

Hi,

I am having severe frame rate issues on several parts of the game.
1) When I encounter The Trucker.
2) During the mid-boss of the 3rd level.
3) and in the arcade

is anyone else experiencing these problems?
What can I do?
Its not the right time to be sober,
Cuz now the idiots are taking over.
They're spreading like a social cancer!
Is there an answer?!

The game just handed my ass to me. Out of practice I suppose.

Is there a move list available?
What's the consensus on how to land on your feet after thrown?
And can anyone explain the sequence button ion detail? I know tapping it and hitting for dash does that dash attack, but what else can it do?
Oh, and some star explanations would be nice. I get the gist, but I know plenty of people have issues and I am just terrible at describing it!

I know that, but I meant the timing. Is it button press or hold?
