Depending on what console your trying to rip the music from. SNES and MD/Gen emulators allow you to rip the music while the ROM is active (or head to zophar.net ripped files with a plugin for Winamp then convert, watch out for the popup's)

Other games like on the PSX sometimes use wave type music, either red-book audio or in some wierd format (XA and STR for allot of PSX games.) You can search around at places like P2P programs or go to websites like Galbadia Hotel which host music from games including remixes and arrangements.

is there any particular time frame the music has to come from?
i've got one here but its more modern than what has been played so far, however its very recognizable if you've played the game.
EDIT: i'll just put it here anyway, i got some zst files of retro music but i dont think i can convert them.
