No had to swap to a replacement PS3. Lost my saves and such. Not fun.
And NO you cannot swap saves from one PS3 to another. You can backup to an external drive, but it will only work on the PS3 the saves came from.

Don't use the save option in the PS3 system menu, the save created will only work on your PS3, it's better to copy manually each save (which can be used with every PS3 as long as you're logged in with your PSN account).

Anyone experience this? Any fixes you know of? I'm gonna try again soon when I get home (at work atm) and maybe try the hold-eject-Power-on-fan=test method that seems to be working for a few on Youtube.
