Ok, consider the little bit of hype I had for this game gone.

http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2011/oct/ ... /#comments

Gem system can not be turned off in SFxT!? More gems are available through DLC!? What the fuck kind of thinking is that? I hate the idea of pay-to-win games.

It almost seems like this is all a part of Capcom's plan to deface Tekken.

Seems Capcom does not want to make money. Weird.

Well, before I was still curious to see how good are my favie Tekken charas but now after seeing gimmick after gimmick and now this bullshit, i'm 210.1% convinced I'm not buying this game.

Here's a lame damage control attempt by Ono after seeing the raging reaction of the fighting game community... full of contradictions, if you ask me.

http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2011/oct/ ... ken-start/

• There will be a couple hundred gems available in Street Fighter X Tekken from the start.

• Gems vary by offense, defense and speed, but there are a lot of sub-categories in there.

• One example is a gem where the 3rd punch hits really hard. This wasn't elaborated on.

• According to Ono, the gem system is important as the super art or ultra combos, a very core thing. There's no modes where gems aren't accessible.

• Gems will be on the disc and if they need to expand after that, they can. If the community thinks of good ideas there could be more gems made available as DLC, in the future.

• There is some concern that people might not be using the tool set the developers had in mind. If things aren't working right, they can adjust the tool set for the community.

That takes some nerve right there. Confirms DLC gems, then calls on disk gems "a starter pack," and then has the nerve to say there "could" be more gems in the future if the community thinks of good gem ideas. Will give Ono this much, the guys got some pretty massive balls that's for sure. Even more ironic considering even if he hadn't contradicted himself from a previous interview, the fact we already have announced pre-order/SE exclusive DLC gems alone contradicts him.

And as for Harada, me thinks that he's not reaaaally interested in these crossover bullfuck. I think it was like this:

Namco executives: Harada-san, we've got the best idea ever! We've been in talks with Capcom's executives and... remember that night we had at the sushi bar with Ono and the Capcom boys?
Harada: ...
Namco executives: Yeah, you know about that Street Fighter vs Tekken games Ono was giving tons of ideas?
Harada: He was hammered drunk and barely had any sense...
Namco executives: Well, we do think it's a nice profitable idea, so, we're going to work on this crossover!
Harada: O_O! But how's that supposed to work? SF and Tekken are completely different games and the only thing in common they have is that they have fighters, that's it.
Namco executives: Oh well, we were contemplating this so we decide to launch not one but TWO games: SF x T and T x SF! How does it sound to you?
Harada: Do you want an honest answer or a nice answer?
Namco executives: Whatever, Ono will be producing SF x T, he's VERY eager to start the project, he's been doing tons of mock ups, concept arts and tons and tons of handwriting notes, in fact, they have already started to produce it. And you'll produce T x SF! You'll be part of an aggressive campaign where you'll be battling Ono in game shows and tournaments! It's gonna be great!
Harada: Do I have a choice in the matter?
Namco executives: Of course! You can say no and we'd gladly accept your decision... but then Tekken Tag Tournament 2 might have to find another producer as well.. and any further Tekken games... you catch my drift?
Harada: *sigh*

And you can sense it, when Ono was happily going like a chihuahua dog in coke with a chinese new year firework stick up his ass, Harada was like "the development of T x SF as we are speaking is 0%. We are focused on TTT2 now". Obviously, if Harada was really into it, he'd have started showing stuff and whatnot as he was showing his advances and ideas on his facebok/twitter.

So pretty much I doubt Harada liked the idea.

lol @ the Harada explanation.

Honestly, if people called UMvC3 a moneygrab, idk how they could possibly support this game. Looks like I'll be sticking to SFIII3s and UMvC3 as far as capcom fighters go. Honestly, MK proved that you don't need any more than the basics to be an excellent fighting game, the only problem was that they dropped support too early. All this extra pizazz doesn't belong in a crossover of 2 games that never had anything like this before (unless you count T6's weapon system, but at least that wasn't so forced).

And even with that, the weapon/item system in T6 was more like a lol thingie or an easter egg rather than anything else: take shit load of time to prepare to do it, do shitty damage and even on it, long long recovery.

The only cool thingie where the grabs can be changed, like the face rake of Xiaoyu's or Heihachi's fatherly love.

I never fond the idea too appealing and it sounds like it's just getting worse and worse. I will definitely pass on this one. :|

what's sad is they did everything right, aside from 2 things.

1. the crossover is with Tekken.
2. the Gem system.

everything else they did hyped me up for the game, 4 player offline and online play. tag and party modes with 4 chars onscreen at once. I mean it was starting to remind me of the beautiful MvC1. but alas, they had to fuck it up.

UMvC3 on the other hand is looking pretty solid...
please capcom give me a 4p tag mode

All of my This.
Honestly, just use the same sprites from before and slap on a filter like with 3sOE. With the groove system and everything it'd be interesting to play online.

Remember the Good Old Street Fighter EX Series, the introduction to super cancels, guard break and cancel break and lvl3 combos,SFXT and SFIV games are based on its Engine.SFEX Series is owned by Arika, the only Reason why Capcom can't use Badass Boss Characters from the EX Series in other SF Games like Kairi,Garuda,Shadow Geist,Darun,Vulcano Rosso,Pullum Purna,Skullomania, etc.

Made a Tribute Combo Video of the series, one must take a look-

I didn't care much for the EX characters, but EX2+alpha was a fun game. Never played EX3 though.

Cool combo vid nonetheless :)

Bump. They're having a one week deal on DLC, thinking about upgrading to AE.

* SSFIV Arcade Edition – $9.99 (original price $14.99)
* SSFIV Arcade Challengers Pack – $1.99 (original price $3.99)
* SSFIV Super Complete Alternate Costume Pack – $4.99 (original price $17.99)
* SSFIV Ultra Complete Alternate Costume Pack – $4.99 (original price $17.99)
* SSFIV 8-bit Avatars bundle – $2.99 (original price $9.99)

It sucks the only capcom psn deals pertain to SSFIV though. Just recently SSF2THD and MvC2 dropped to half price or less on XBLA. I would much rather have those :P
