I've only played the first level of Episode 2 at the moment but I have to say I'm loving it so far. It's greatly improved (although I really did like Episode one although it did have some issues). It looks a lot better and the big thing I'm loving so far is the physics improvement, that was one of the big issues I had with Episode 1. Now they feel a lot more like the originals and not so stiff which made platforming in Episode 1 difficult to do. Music is once again great and catchy too.

I was playing Episode 2 with my brother mitu123 the other day, and well, I gave up at the third act of that ice carnival level.

No problem! Well seeing that I've been on the boards since '07, and the huge anticipation of V.5 this was the place for SorR fans worldwide to connect. As a 'Sega' kid I played the series over and over again... this and Sonic, Golden Axe, Shinobi-- Sega had some awesome franchises! So I grew up loving Sega and I know many of you did too; as well as other classics such as Resident Evil, MK, etc. which is another reason I come here; to read the updates and commentary. Plus reading about cool movies and hidden gems like forum member Sonic's 8-bit Street Fighter vs. Megaman. You, Vecta, Badjab, Charco, Saven, VampX, Cabo-hicks, Joy, Steve-o etc. keep it alive here and well we're all sort of like family online. So even though I seldomly post I'll always remember everyone, B's hard work and the great discussions here on the boards!!

Right, I think I can write a sum-up of what was good at this SAGE/

I think the biggest star of the show was definitely LakeFepard, the workaholic who achieved Sonic : Before the Sequel fangame (which was also rewarded as the Best of the Show last year's SAGE).
After finalizing the project, LakeFepard released an update in STH : BTS 2012 edition which features some improvements in cutscenes, bugfixes but most importantly its own soundtrack composed by a newcomer composer that joined in his projects lately. If you loved this fangame or never gave it a chance, this is definitely the version to play. Its soundtrack is worth the listen as well (and fact that will enrage us all : Jun Senoue contacted the composer to congratulate him. Yeah right, SEGA officially congratulates Sonic fangames...)
But aside his updated fangame, LakeFepard also released a heavy demo of his fangame's sequel, Sonic : After the Sequel. Set between Sonic 2 and 3, STH : ATS let you choose this time who to play with from the beginning between Sonic and Tails instead of alternating between them. It features even more new concepts and zones and has a lot of great ideas and designs, just like BTS.
Didn't find any mention of release date but given the state of this demo, its release shouldn't be too far away and obviously, if you liked BTS, you should definitely look forward to play ATS in its final version.

SAGE 2012 also revealed a great Sonic hack that kinda popped up out of nowhere : Sonic the Hedgehog Tribute. Greats visuals (with SOR1 elements), nice remixes from various games and nice level design makes it a winner to me. Actually, it's been a long while I haven't been interested in a Sonic hack.

Other nice runner-ups include the fangames Sonic Panic Summer, The Emeralds awakening and Emerald Ties and the hacks Sonic AGX, Sonic Erazor and Sonic Classic Heroes (which has improved a lot since its first public version).

This is what kills me, Sega has no fucking issue with people making games from their most popular IP. Which would be something I would think would get shut down first, since, you know, actually makes a profit nowadays. But their other IPs, like Streets of Rage? They are like that one kid who shares with a select group of people but when you ask if you can have any, you just get a quick and sharp NO!!! YOU CAN'T HAVE ANY!!! thrown at your face. They continue to neglect many other great franchises like SOR, Shenmue, Ecco, Toejam & Earl, etc. whilst jerking off to Sonic porn on deviantart.

I don't have an issue with a company wanting to protect it's products. But when a game like SORR gets shut down while a ton of other fangames based on a franchise made by the same company (especially based on one that makes the most money for them) gets the go ahead and even recognition from the company itself, I find it very hypocritical and hard to respect Sega anymore after giving my favorite game series the finger by shutting down SORR and saying later that they have no plans for the SOR series. Sega is dead to me.

I guess it really doesn't matter since none of these games will ever see the light of day anyways.

Yeah, I mad.
