So is there actually a confirmed full remix list and is the original soundtrack being included?

Particularly I am interested in any exact stages that have been remixed, as I am not completely knowledgable on song/remix names.

Only the contributors have information on the final list/number of remixes and original tracks. We won't know until release. It is safe to say that almost every track from the original trilogy has been remixed. The OST will be a separate download and will include bonus tracks that may not have made it into the final version of the game. I think Groovemaster303 is compiling that. You will be able to customise the soundtrack also, so if there is a track you would prefer to put in, you can do so.

Thanks Charco, that was kinda the answer I expected, I figured as with everything else it was going to be a wait and see! I'm hoping that each stage is going to have it's original music, it peeved me that not all v4 songs matched up. I knew we'd be able to customize our tracks which is great because I intend on establishing two folders, one with every original classic song and one with the remixes.

What I meant by OST was the Genesis sound track, whether or not that would be included, if so I'll be more than ecstatic! I certainly hope you are right that most of the originals have been remixed and added in, some of my favorite tracks were missing in v4!

The original Megadrive/Genesis music will not be included, you will have to get this elsewhere and convert it to ogg format.

A huge amount of the missing remixes from v4 will be in v5. There may be only a couple of tracks from the original trilogy that have not been remixed.

Thanks Charco, I suppose you guys can't include the original for Copyright reasons. Glad to hear they are working on so many, I hope at least all the major stages are covered such as all the original SoR music.

Also, I think Xillatem has already started work on a 16-bit soundtrack mod for v5

if a person played V5 on Normal difficulty for every play-through, how many play-throughs (on average) would it take to unlock everything in the game?
I'm the ruler of the Abyss! But you knew that already, didn't you?

According to the blog there are 34 unlockables (this number may have changed). Unlocking let's say, a character, from the shop will normally require around the amount of points accumulated from a single playthrough. However, smaller unlockables may be unlocked together but I am only speculating here. You will definitely get great replay value from v5 to unlock all the hidden characters, modes, cheats etc.

On the subject of music, remember that SoRR has a lot of stages unique to itself, so music that didn't get much use in the original trilogy may well get more airtime.

Edit: A proper question: What level of compression is the music in-game going to be subject to? I remember a while back that the indie hit Iji suffered a lot at launch due to the (excellent) music being heavily overcompressed to save on file size.

Even if it adds another 50-100mb to the download (not a problem at all for people these days, really), I'd much prefer to have all the music be CD-quality.

2 questions.

1. Does the value of an item used to unlock things in the shop increase depending on the difficulty ?
Like for example something on normal gives 200pts on a higher level like mania it gives you 500 pts?

2. Also if you get a game over half way through a game do you still retain your points from that game to be used in the shop?
