Update 15/06

Latest news: I´m near to finish the stages setup, i´m playing and trying to balance the things, probably the final release will not be a piece of cake to beat the game, but i´m triyng to balance the easy mode, normal, very hard and 2 playes mode. One more bonus content is done, 2 left. Things gonna happen faster than i have imagined! And upload will be much more faster than i thought, i tried to RAR the file and get 180mb of 600mb. 180mb will take me two days to upload with my crap internet connection, but its better than one week! So continue following the thread for more news and info.

Way of the Warrior will be a MOD where our heroes chase Mr X in Japan, after a prison break where Mr X was helped by some Yakuza partners in an escape few months after his arrest in SoR remake. During the trip, our heroes can choose the path that will take, the game will deliver 4 different path with 4 different plot and ending. Some stages will be the same on the 4 paths, but you will find some totally different stages in any path. I will not release a DEMO because i want that all of you have an totally fresh experience the first time you play.

So, this is the actual state of the Mod:

Graphics: 100% - All the regular stages are completely done.

Sounds: 100% - All musics, ambient sounds and footsteps sounds are done. All musics have their looping worked and edited by me, as some equalization in some tracks. You can expect a new and totally original soundtrack, theres no tracks from streets of rage remake.

Cutscenes: 100% - All cutscenes, including the ending cutscenes are done. Now is only left to set the enemys in the stages and the bonus content. Probably one more week to do that, and more a few days to upload the mod.

Bonus: 50% - I pretending to add 4 unlockable bonus, one for any path. The first two are done, one its called UFC Mode, its like an boss rush, but you fight inside the Octagon. The other is the Original Cutscene Pictures, where you can find all the pen draws of the mod cutscenes. Hope that the bonus make you want to play 4 times my mod! :)

I see World Heroes and KOF98 stages :D Hey, you could use some rips from Burning Fight. The setting at least of the first stage it's in a place simulating Kabuki-cho (i liked in Japan too, btw) :P If you want I can give you the rips.

Thank you don, but im already using some burning fight backgrounds!

The stage from World Heroes is Asakusa, i and my ex girlfriend loved to visit this place! I feel surprised when i see the place in world heroes: in fact, i have some real photos of this place, and looks a lot with the game counterpart!

Yup... also that 98 stage in Osaka does exist. I lived in Osaka a small while (then in some small town over Shizuoka) and yeah, as a KOF fan was like a pilgrimage to visit that crossing (also KOF 96 Japan stage). WAs awesome. :P

lol, we're going too offtopic. Hope u can get it anytime soon. Looking forward to test it.

I really miss the time when i lived in japan: it´s too sad come back to Brazil and remeber every day the difference between one of the most advanced country in the world and the third world... i´m still trying to assimilate my country. I leaved Japan because of the USA crysis has affect deeply the Japanese economy, so i lost my job and decided to come back to my birthplace.About the mod, off course that i have made some adaptations. The stage is osaka, but in my mod become Roppongi: a district know by his night life that fits well with this background. The first stage of burning fight will be Akihabara on my mod, because of the game centers and all the stores. (ok, theres a game center in every corner in japan, but the stage fits well for i wanted to do). Now, its pray for bomberlink see and decided to answer my e-mail, i think that is essential for my mod to have ending cutscenes, and i don´t want to make it in the cheap way. I have ripped the Tokyo stage from KoF96 too, but i don´t find a way to make a good use of that background, so i decided to let that background for a future mod. The airplane was made by me from the sketch, the textures was taken from perfect dark - Airforce One stage.

Oh this looks promising. I will keep an eye on it.

Looking at that jail pic, try to resize the door to the size of the characters, it will be more fitting.

Thx Iceweb38, i have resized most of the stages, but this one have escaped me, in truth, i haven´t feel the doors are bigger than the chars, but after you noticed, i take a look and its really about 9 pixels bigger. But now its ok. It´s good to receive this kind of feedback, i really think that my mod it´s promising too, for this reason i want so much to learn how to make the ending cutscenes, i tried to work hard in any aspect, changing the pallete, redrawing a lot of stages to avoid then to be an exactly copy from the originals, making a selection of different music and remastered/edit/create a loop for it, and finally, i will create totally new cutscenes, that i will draw and paint by myself. Because of this, the project have reached 520mb untill now, but i don´t have finished yet, so the project could reach higher amount of megabytes. Oh, don´t forget that my mod will have 4 different paths, but some stages will repeat in all paths.

The challenge is to make the short backgrounds from fighting games become a long beat n up background. In some cases i have put two different but similar stages together (this stage from KoF98 link directly to jack stage from Art of Fighting 2). In other cases, i leave the stage intact and you only face the boss in that place. Theres cases where i use the background repeatedly, making a little adjustments in any repeat to feel different. Stages was ripped from these games:

- World Heroes
- Burning Fight
- Final Fight 1, 2 and 3
- Fatal Fury Special
- Art of Fighting 2
- Real Bout Fatal Fury 1, 2 and Special
- Kof 95, 96, 98, 99.
- Perfect Dark
- Sailor Moon Bishoujo J
- Pretty Fighter
- Street Fighter 2
- Voltage Fighter Gowcaiser
- Sengoku 3
- Mortal Kombat 3

Some stages i created from sketch using some textures that i have collect years ago when i made some attempt in RPG maker. The harajuko screen i created using a real photo that i have taken as a reference. If the sprites edit was not removed in V5, my mod probably could have new chars and enemys too, but unfortunately it´s no possible to do that...

Hey, man! I´m excited reading about your mod... with all the nice tips you gave me I´ll expect something really sweet! I´m sad to see that you already used some of the ideas I have for my mod (prison, airport...), but I´ll just put my effort into mine, and try to make it different than yours.

AND I just realized you´re from Brazil, like me! Então, valeu, irmão! E a gente se vê!

Lol, i can´t believe that you don´t perceive before that i´m from brazil too ahaha, well, i know how you feels, i was reading the topic about glisp mod (a sindicate story) and i see that he is doing a Mr.X mansion stage too (but i doubt that is the same thing that i have do in my version :) ), as i see that he made it a 2d stage, that was one thing that i have think to do in a future mod or bonus for my mod. But i know that i can´t be sad because of this, it´s good that happens because this make us to put more effort in our work! And, after all, all mods can be similar, but not exactly the same, so, people can play two different airport stages, for example! And another thing is, we that work with ripped sprites, must know that this is a possibility. For this, i always try to mix different elements from various stages, change some color or detail, etc... Maybe, in the future, i can try to make a mod with sprites totally designed by me from the sketch, to avoid this. I hope that people like my mod a lot, don´t matter if has some similar things to another mods. Actually i´m working in the cutscenes, i´m drawing all entirely new scenes, so, even this will be fresh for the players. então é isso, nem encana cara, manda ver que eu também quero conhecer seu mod, adorei sua demo!
