Pros:

- Interesting levels, some nice and fresh ideas too.
- Good balance in the first levels.

Cons:

- Too difficult. This is because there are:
- Too many enemies overall, especially in later stages.
- Like in most mods (not just in sormaker thus far, but e.g. BOR mods too), enemy placement lacks proper "build up" to keep things fresh and interesting. Every enemy type should be introduced properly and there should be new enemy types appearing at least up until stage 7.
- No dialogue, no cutscenes.

All in all, I liked playing this mod, though. I'd give it a 5 out of 10. (Maybe this doesn't sound fair, but I'd judge it against SORR V5 which would get a 10).

i disagree that update 5 is too hard, i played it from level 1 to the end and found it to be ok
the levels all have the special police attack function to help the player
i didnt care too much about dialogue or cutscenes

i'm glad you liked the 1st half of the game as i worked a lot more on the 1st half and middle than i did the last part. but despite the rush to upload it and as you know i edited it 5 times to try and get it the way it should be.

out of all the mods i have uploaded so far this one took the most work so im just glad to have it done with now... i'll add the review's of version 5 to the 1st page i hope my next mod will get a higer score (im going to upload it tomorrow)

I compare the difficulty to SORR V5, which I regard as standard by now (even though we all know that, compared to the original games, it's much harder). You will agree that your mod is much more difficult than SORR V5, I think.

Now that you mention it: It is true that the mod is much easier if you use the police special. However, I found it quite odd that you can call the police everywhere - e.g. even in Mr. X's den. That's why I played by my own "house rule" meaning I eventually only used the special in outdoor places.

Anyway, looking forward to your next mod!

One question before my review: Why did you have so many extra lives on the first few levels?

It's not nessessarily a bad thing, but I ended up getting around 8 or so extra lives onn the first level alone by beating the Galsias. The game's not nessarily easy neither so it's understandible, but I would've spreaded it out more. Just saying.

Review coming soon

Okay first off, the mod does get more difficult in the later stages. No big deal because if somebody plays it enough, then they won't need to worry about such a thing. However, the mod isn't worth playing through but once.
Part of the reason is the backgrounds. Some of them are awful and just look like you edited a gif image and saved it as a gif before converting it to PNG. That's a big no. Don't do that kind of thing ever again. Convert a Gif image you edit to PNG always. Also, Dr. Zero isn't animated and looks like a freaking Jpeg smear. This is why PNG's a good idea. Never save t Jpeg or gif. Ever.

That's really my primary gripe other than difficulty. Sorry if I sounded harsh, but hopefully, this will help reinforce you to use PNG for everything in the future. Also, don't use the version 5 maps. I'm not sure if you even had permission to use them. I hope you did.

One last minor gripe: What happened to the starting loops of some of the tracks? Attack the barbarian is missing the opening part of the track and just goes straight into the looping part. This is lazy. Get audacity. ;) It's a free audio editing program and comes with an OGG converter built into it. Very useful for music for you mods. If you don't have it, get it. =)

Hope this feedback helps you with your mods in the future.

Played your mod and it was 'ok'...The first 4 or 5 stages are right on the money, but closer to the end is where things fall apart for me. I had to grit my teeth playing through stage 8; it's a little to crowded and long for me, it stopped being fun after the first few big waves of enemies. When i got to Mr. X i thought i was home and dry...then it carried on and became more of a chore. You don't need tons and tons of enemies to make a mod good, and your first few levels prove this perfectly. With regards to the crazy amount of lives in the first few levels, they actually become needed in the later levels so i found them to be fine and justifyed. I feel this could be a great mod, but only with some more tweaking.

So anyway, i thought it was ok, and as so i'll give you the moderate 3.0/5.0 :|
(and most of that score is your first few stages)
The box said "Requires Windows 95 or better." I can't understand why it won't work on my Linux computer.

I already had this one thanks to Bazzza, wrong thread for the 115 issue, but you fixed the other one, I see.

Played it... it wasn't bad.
Felt like an experimental thing with building scenes in the early days of modding rather than an actual mod... if you get me.

A bunch of transparency problems in various places, and some rather bad boss&enemy combinations here and there... increasingly as the game went on.
Then I got trolled in Stage 8... after beating the supposedly final boss, a police car intro happened. It felt drawn out too much by then.

Still, it was nice to play in all those different settings.
